Day 11

Ascus

Sarah Barrington needs something that will allow someone to breathe underwater. Check the index section in Strange Artefacts. Look for the word “Breathe”. Under the reference in the section, you will know the item’s name. It’s an Ascus.

The core of the is cold to touch, but the ring is surprisingly warm:

St. Cedric’s Thunder

It’s an item that is used to store the power of a single thunderclap. Gemstones are used to prevent the charge from waning over time.

Look through the letters or clue cards to know where this item is located. The clue card with the image of the tower will provide the hint.

“I am closest to the sunset, but furthest from the sunrise.” Look for the westernmost tower on the castle map.

Click on the Explore button and open the Castle map. This is the westernmost tower, located on the extreme right-hand side of the map, next to the library:

You will obtain two items and a torn note from the tower:

One of the two items is St. Cedric’s Thunder:

Ambra

An Ambra causes mental fog, and it produces a “noctic” field/resonance. Certain Items produce thaumic fields or resonance patterns around them, and they can be seen only with the help of a Thaumic lens. Just place an item on top of the lens , and you will see its Thaumic field.

How to Unlock the Thaumic Lens

Click the bottom arrow to return to your desk. Along the edge of the desk, you will see symbols representing Mundane Elements. You can find the same set in the Book of Symbols under the section titled “Mundane Elements.” You will also notice matching symbols on the four rectangular tiles you’ve collected throughout the game.

Day 1: Pick the Antimony token from the top-left drawer of the desk:

Day 7: Solve the Plinth puzzle (refer to Restful Mether in this guide) to get two additional tokens, Phosphorus and Arsenic, from the hidden cupboard:

Day 10: Freddie Lamb finds a Bismuth token and gives it to you as soon as you sell the Cyrene Ward to him:

Place the four tokens on the missing slots on the desk, as shown in the screenshot below:

The Thaumic Lens magically unlocks after you place the tiles in the right slots on the desk. Next, place the object on the detector to check its unique thaumic field.

Discover Thaumic Fields

Before placing an item on the lens to find its thaumic field/resonance pattern, you should first understand what a Noctic field looks like. With the help of the Lens, you can discover six types of Thaumic Fields or resonance. Here’s a step-by-step guide on finding them using the symbols book:

1. After unlocking the thaumic lens, click on the triangle in the middle of the desk to open the lens.

2. On the top of the lens, slide the button to the right to bring up shapes made of different movable parts.

3. Open the symbols book (Hermetic Symbology) and place it on the desk, beside the lens. On the first two pages titled “Thaumic Disciplines”, you will find 6 different thaumic symbols: Selenic, Draedic, Diurnic, Noctic, Mentic, and Wycix.

4. In the Thaumic Lens, you will see buttons on the bottom, lef,t and right. Using the mouse, you can slide the buttons to switch between different shapes and change the position of the movable shapes:

  • The left button is used to move the small circle up and down. Slide the left button up or down to move it.
  • Slide the right-hand side button to move the medium-sized circle up and down.
  • The bottom slider is used to switch to three different shapes – Kite, Rhombus, and Triangle. Move the bottom button left or right to change shapes.

Refer to the Thaumic Disciplines page in the book of symbols to find the 6 thaumic symbols. Replicate each symbol on the thaumic lens by sliding the movable buttons on the bottom, left, and right to find the resonance or thaumic field around it. Note down the resonance pattern for each thaumic symbol or refer to the screenshots below:

1. Selenic:

2. Draedic:

3. Diurnic:

4. Noctic:

5. Mentic:

6. Wyxic:

Now that you know all six thaumic fields, it’s time to find Ambra. It produces a noctic field.

The Ambra is locked behind the cabinet to the extreme left-hand side. Click on the left arrow to move to the locked cabinet. You will need the Ethereal Key to unlock it.

Finding the Ethereal Key

To find the Ethereal Key in Strange Antiquities, open the Book of Artefacts and search for hints. According to the book, “the key is hidden from prying eyes.” It can be activated by moving a certain object in a circular motion. That object has a gemstone of light and two gemstones of night/dark.

Refer to the book of gemstones to know more about gemstones of light and night. The gemstone of light is Amber, and the gemstones of night are the Onyx and the Moonstone. Find that item that has these three gemstones:

Seethe screenshot if you haven’t found the key yet. It was always with you, right from day 1, below the locked cabinet.

Move this object in a circular motion, clockwise, to reveal the hidden key. Place the key in the lock to open the cabinet.

Place each item from the locked cabinet onto the Thaumic lens. The item that generates a Noctic field is the Ambra.

This item produces the noctic field (See the background resonance on the lens in the screenshot below):

The Ambra produces a Noctic Field

Silent Breath (Repeat Item)

Read Barton Potter’s description. The keyword here is “Danger”. Look up the word danger in the index of the Strange Artefacts book. There are two items tagged with this word – Silent Breath and Spirit Vault.

Sell the Silent Breath to Potter:

Bonesguard

It’s a small item that can be placed in any liquid to render it safe to drink. It has the mark of an antidote, so make sure you check the book of symbols to know more about the antidote symbol. Hint: It’s the reversed symbol of the poison symbol.

You won’t have this item with you unless you have already looked through notes or clue cards to find it on the map.

The clue card with the three landmarks forms a triangulation that points to a location on the Undermere map where the Bonesguard can be found. This card was unlocked on Day 10.

Note the symbol of the Bonesguard. It’s the reverse symbol of Poison found in the book:

End of Day 11. Clue Card with the riddle unlocked – To my left, the day. To my right, the night.

Day 12

Letter from MBM

The mailman returns with another letter. It’s from M.B.M.

Lamb’s Syphon

From her appearance, Nancy Irwin seems to be cursed. Refer to the Book of Curses. She is suffering from the Black Heart curse. Her skin is pale, and veins stand out darkly.

Next, open the Artefacts book and search for Black Heart in the index section. Only one item is mentioned that can cure this curse – Lamb’s Syphon.

This item is made using the dried seed pod of a Sheepsnap plant. Look at the picture of the Sheepsnap plant next to the item description.

The only item that has a globular object fixed onto it is this:

Item from Thaddeus White

Thaddeus White, the curator of Undermere’s museum of history, submits this item:

Clue 2 from Simone Greene/Thaumic Field Clue

Simone Green has provided another clue. It is linked to the first clue she gave you on Day 9, when she handed you a note with three Thaumic field designs drawn on it. Here are the two clues:

The second note reads: Three Resonant Objects: Lightest First, Heaviest Last.

Thaumic Needle

A Thaumic needle is tall, and its weight decreases when heated. To identify it, use the candle and the weighing scale. First, warm an item over the candle, then place it on the scale. If its weight becomes lighter after heating, that item is the Thaumic needle.

You won’t have the item yet. Refer to Simone Green’s Thaumic Field clues to get that item:

1. On your desk, click on the triangle in the middle. Place all items on the Thaumic Lens on the desk to know their fields/resonance pattern and find three items that have the same Thaumic fields/resonance as shown in the first clue from Simone:

Refer to this clue and identify the three items that match the same thaumic field/ resonance pattern shown.

Here are the three items with the same Thaumic field patterns:

I. Holgen Grim

II. Hunter’s Boon

III. Cussic Purifier

From left to right, place the Holgen Grim, Hunter’s Boon, and Cussic Purifier on the three plinths, as shown in the screenshot below:

Putting the above items on the plinths will unlock the secret cupboard behind your shop. Pick the Thaumic Needle from the secret cupboard:

You can also use the candle and the weighing scale to confirm that its weight reduces when heated.

Morgan’s Folly and Fortinance

One of the two items can be sold to the customer, but selling either of them can change the events outside your shop.

Morgan’s Folly

Its symbol can be revealed to induce a trance-like state if you look at it constantly. Do not look at its “Hidden Symbol” for too long.

The hidden symbol is the symbol of “Hypnosis”. Look up this word in the book of symbols, under “Imbuements”.

This is Morgan’s Folly that reveals the hidden symbol of hypnosis when you click on the diamond shape:

Fortinance

It is made of stone or iron and usually takes the form of a small totem. It enhances physical strength.

Look through letters and clue cards to find Fortinance on one of the maps.

The clue card “Below the Moon that does not shine, there is no mark upon my shrine. In the dark but not alone. My neighbor bears a cross of stone” provides the much-needed hint to find this item. You unlocked this card on Day 9.

Click on the “Explore” button and open the Catacombs map. This is the exact location of the item:

The Fortinance, as described in the book of Artefacts, is made of stone, as shown in the screenshot below:

End of Day 12. New clue card unlocked – I am marked by Jupiter:

Day 13

Acumenical

Pay close attention to the illustration on the page next to the Acumenical entry in the Book of Artefacts. Specifically, note the hourglass symbol. Your task is to find the item that bears this same hourglass motif.

You can also take a look at this item. Right-click on the item to inspect it and then click on “Inner Perception”. Move the cursor over the wooden box with the hourglass motif, and you will feel an unpleasant sensation at the back of the skull:

This way, you will correctly identify the item:

Letter from Barton

The mailman returns with another letter. It’s from Barton. It says something about the Wandering Shroud:

Truth Conduit

It can be rolled along the tongue to cure Tormund’s paralysis, or can also be worn around the neck to protect against the curse. Look for paralysis in the book of curses. Also, this particular item produces a Diurnic Field pattern, so you will need to take the help of the Thaumic Lens.

If you do not already have this item, could you check your letters and clue cards? The clue card, unlocked on Day 11 and featuring the riddle “To my left, the day. To my right, the night,” will guide you to its location.

Click on the Explore button and open the Catacombs map. Check for tombstones that has the Sun and Moon symbols on the left and right side of the tombstone:

Click on the middle tombstone to obtain the Truth Conduit. You can also test its Thaumic Field pattern by placing it on top of the Lens:

For all Thaumic Field patterns and how to identify them, refer to Ambra (Day 11) of this guide.

This is the Truth Conduit:

Grey’s Grace (Repeat Item)

Evelyn Bennet needs this item. You have already identified it:

Pitt and Babellia

Babellia

It has a mentic field pattern, but strangely, it does not produce a mentic field. It is used in translating foreign languages.

Pitt

Pitt is composed of three distinct elements that represent the Noctic, Diurnic, and Draedic. Strangely, it does not produce a recognizable field pattern, just like Babellia. It emits a powerful vibration that can crack a solid rock. The picture of a crow beside the item description in the Strange Artefacts book is a clue.

Only this item, with a skull of a bird (Crow?), does not produce any recognizable pattern when placed on a thaumic lens:

End of Day 13. New Clue Card unlocked: “I am buried with the Knight of Thorns”:

Day 14

Loem

Called a Hand of Jupiter (Hint), the Loem can reverse the signs of aging. Look through the letters and clue cards before locating this item.

Read the letter that mentions a place known as the Triangle. You received this letter on Day 5. On the map of Undermere, you will be able to see a triangular copse of trees.

Click on Explore and locate Heath Wood, where you will find a triangular copse of trees on the undermere map.

Read the description and press the Ok button to obtain the item. You will get three items – one of them is the Loem.

The silver one resembles the hand of Jupiter.

Heart Chamber

Open the book Strange Artefacts and look for this item in the Contents section. The picture of Holgar gives an important clue – the Heart Chamber is one of the three pendants he’s wearing.

It could be the coffin-shaped pendant he is wearing:

Note from Edmund Bishop

You get a note with a cryptic clue from Mr. Bishop: Blessings in Spring, rising in Autumn.

Witherance

The inverse of “Fortinance”. It can either be made from stone, but wood is more commonly used.

Look up Fortinance in the Strange Artefacts book. Fortinance is used for strength, and this item for weakness. Check the book of symbols for the symbol for weakness. Find the item in your shop having that symbol. Also, this item is made purely from wood:

Solemn Mether

Look up the three methers in the Strange Artefact book. One of the drinking cups (methers) gives off a strong Thaumic field, so make sure you place all three methers on the Thaumic lens one by one to find the one that produces a strong field:

Gowdian Siren

Look up this item in the strange artefact book. The sketch of the display cabinet shows multiple items. One of them is the Gowdian Siren. This item creates a strong compulsion, like a siren’s call, and this can be used to divert someone’s attention.

End of Day 14. New clue card hint: “I am under the barn where the axe meets the tree.”

Day 15

Note from Simone Green

You receive a note from Simone. Locate the three stones linked to Dark, Earth, and Death. You will need them later.

Shadow Anchor

Either in pendant form or as a totem to hold onto. Look for an item with one or more Kyanite gemstones. Refer to the book of gems to find out what the Kyanite looks like.

You can also place the item on the thaumic lens to know whether it produces a mentic field:

Letter from Barton

Zephyrim and Abrasive Mether

Zephyrim

A resonant object, it gives off a faint odor, a scent of the storm. Note down the picture of the Zephyrus, god of the west wind, for any hints.

You may not have this item. Could you look through the letters and clue cards to find their location on the maps?

A clue card that says to find a barn where the axe meets the tree hints at the location of this item on the Undermere map. Find out Woodcutters Lane on the map. The plot on the right side of this lane has the item:

When you have a closer inspection, you can choose scent and sound, then move your cursor onto the object. The Zephyrim gives off a scent of a brewing storm.

Abrasive Mether

This drinking cup is used to get rid of unwanted memories. It can alter the mind. There are three types of mether – Abrasive is one of them. Hint: It has a sharp aroma.

End of Day 15. New clue card unlocked – A ball of wool. Could be related to Jupiter the cat.
