BlazBlue: Entropy Effect – Complete Tier List
BlazBlue: Entropy Effect is a fast-paced action roguelike game from 91Act. It has a diverse cast of 10 playable characters, each with their personalities, fighting styles, and combos.
I created this tier list with three things in mind – Power, Fun, and Difficulty. All the characters in BlazBlue Entropy Effect are unique and these three factors help distinguish them more clearly.
- Power (1-10)– Total damage potential and how quickly the character scales.
- Fun (1-10)– Different playstyles and combos that can be pulled off.
- Difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard) – Learning curve and mastering the character to pull off combos more effectively.
Tier List
Es (16/20) – Easy
Power – 9
Fun – 7
Es wields a massive sword that leaves trails of energy (crests) upon attacking. Her talents maximize creating more crests to amplify her damage. Irrespective of her clunky nature, she has lots of combo options and can weave in multiple attacks to deal massive damage. Her playstyle is a bit linear, but if you like characters with massive weapons who deal a ton of damage, then you’ll love her.
Hakumen (14/20) – Easy
Power – 9
Fun – 5
A slow but tanky character that can deal massive amounts of damage. Most of his high-damage attacks take a while to charge, but he can withstand those hits thanks to his super armor. Hakumen’s theme is similar to Es but with severely limited movement options. His playstyle is quite mundane but I personally love him. If you like Es, make sure to give Hakumen a try.
Hibiki (13/20) – Medium
Power – 6
Fun – 7
The ninja-themed character in BlazBlue: Entropy Effect relies on flurry attacks and striking from behind. Hibiki is quite agile and sneaks behind enemies to deal massive damage. You can build him in several different ways, as each potential can unlock a whole different playstyle. However, unlike Es and Hakumen, he can’t deal burst damage but his movement abilities make up for it.
Jin Kisaragi (16/20) – Hard
Power – 10
Fun – 6
Jin can not only slow enemies close to him, but he can also freeze them. The constant freezes let you deal damage while reducing the risk of getting hit by the enemy. You can even freeze bosses for a shorter duration, which makes him one of the most broken characters in the game. However, I didn’t like his combo-oriented gameplay, and completing the game with him felt ‘too easy’.
Kokonoe (15/20) – Easy
Power – 10
Fun – 5
Being a weapon specialist, she dominates the battlefield with missiles and lasers. Kokonoe is undoubtedly one of the most powerful characters in the game. She also has decent movement abilities to navigate the arena without much trouble. Unless you’re at a high entropy level, defeating the game with her also feels too easy, and the lack of combo potential also feels quite boring.
Λ 11 (14/20) – Medium
Power – 6
Fun – 8
Λ 11 conjures blades from other dimensions to attack her enemies. She has a lot of flashy moves and mastering her playstyle can be quite rewarding. I may be a bit biased toward her but once you’re able to pull off combos consistently, you can stun-lock enemies and keep damaging them with style. You do have to unlock a few potentials for her to pop off and take you on an adrenaline-filled adventure.
Mai (13/20) – Hard
Power – 5
Fun – 8
Mai is an underrated character. Most players consider her the worst of the fighters, but personally speaking, I find her quite amusing. She has lots of combo potential and her flashy moves rival that of Λ 11. However, most of her moves lack power. You’ll need to hit the enemy multiple times to take them down. And although you can counteract the downside by picking the powerful Tactics (Ice), you can feel that lack of base firepower at higher levels.
Noel (16/20) – Medium
Power – 8
Fun – 8
Noel is yet another gunslinging character that packs quite a punch. She starts off weak but grabbing a few key Potentials skyrockets her power level through the roof. She’s also the only character with three distinct aerial attacks. Noel is also quick on her feet and once you’ve mastered all her moves, you’ll be peppering the enemy with gunfire from every direction. She feels like the Dante of BlazBlue.
Ragna (16/20) – Hard
Power – 10
Fun – 6
Being the poster boy of BlazBlue: Entropy Effect, it makes sense for him to be overpowered. Although his gimmick is supposed to keep power in check, once you get used to his rhythm, you can plow through the early game with ease. He relies on a few key combos to deal persistent damage so there is little room for innovation, but if you like living on the edge, Ragne is the perfect character for you.
Taokaka (18/20) – Easy
Power – 10
Fun – 8
Although Taokaka isn’t my favorite character, I had a blast playing with her. Her combos are fun to execute and you can build her in several different ways, all of which deal a ton of damage. The overwhelming raw power she’s able to put out is remarkable, and her flashy moves make it all the more appealing. In terms of power level, she ranks second in the entire roster, but only because Jin’s kit is broken.
