He Is Coming Game Guide: Basic Bomb Build for Beginners
In He is Coming, the Bomb Build is all about delivering devastating burst damage the moment combat starts, often dealing massive damage to enemies before they can react. It relies on effects like Cherry Bomb and explosive food bonuses to overwhelm opponents in an instant.
Spiny Chestnuts and Cherry Bombs – Deliciously Deadly
Cherry bomb is a common bomb found in a treasure chest. When battle begins, it deals 1 damage 2 times to your enemy even before their turn. On my first run, I collected two of them just to see how effective they are against enemies.
My first opponent was the bat and although it’s one of the most common enemies, it had speed advantage against me, i.e. it would attack me first. With two cherry bombs, I dealt a total of 4 damage, taking down the level 1 Bat before it even had a chance to strike.
When fighting the first boss, Bloodmoon Werewolf, cherry bombs proved extremely useful. With 20 HP, 3 Attack and a status effect that makes him temporarily gain 5 Attack when the hero is below 50% health, having the first strike was crucial.

As soon as the fight began, two cherry bombs went off, dealing 4 damage right away and leaving the werewolf no chance to seize the advantage. His HP dropped to 16, and I followed up with a sword strike for another 3 damage, bringing his HP down to 13—all this before his turn.
Later, while exploring, I combined two cherry bombs with Golem’s help (see special tiles section) to create a golden cherry bomb – It can deal 2 damage 2 times at the start of battle. While the effect was the same, it did save space in my item inventory.

Look out for Spiny Chestnuts in a treasure chest. You gain three “Thorns” at the start of battle if you add a spiny chestnut to your items inventory. You can deal damage equal to your thorns when struck by the enemy and remove those thorns at the turn end. When battle begins, your character gains thorns. When enemy strikes, it triggers a thorn attack, dealing damage to the enemy equal to the thorns equipped at the start of battle.

The more spiny chestnuts you have in your inventory the more damage will be dealt to the enemy. If you have two, your character will gain 6 thorns and will deal damage equal to the thorns gained when struck.
Spiny Chestnuts and Cherry Bombs are great picks for a basic bomb build in He is Coming. However, if you’re aiming for a truly powerful setup, be sure to add these items to your inventory as you progress. You can buy them from the Traveling Merchant using coins.

1. Explosive Surprise (5 Coins): Deal 6 damage. Triggers when you lose all of your armor for the first time.
2. Lifeblood Burst (5 Coins): Deal 3 damage whenever you restore 3 or more health.
3. Iron Shrapnel (3 coins): When battle starts, deal 3 damage to the enemy. Deal double damage if they don’t have armor.
Note: While purchasing items from the Traveling Merchant, press the CTRL key to restock items if you don’t find any of the above items. The first restock costs 1 coin, and the price increases by 1 coin with each subsequent refresh.
