Loddlenaut Guide: Tips and Tricks

Moon Lagoon’s Loddlenaut is one of the best cozy games on steam that raise environmental awareness. Combining exploration, creature-collecting, and survival genres, this ocean-cleaning game lets you collect and nurture cute axolotl-like creatures called “Loddles”. You are sent to planet GUP-14, and your task is to clean its polluted ocean and investigate the dark past of an evil corporation responsible for abandoning the planet.

The exploration part of the game allows you to dive into various alien oceans and uncover the secrets of GUP-14. You will be using handy tools, such as the purifier bomb and bubble gun, to clean gunk and clear polluted areas. The creature-collection part lets you raise adorable alien aquatic critters, feed them, and protect them from the polluted ocean. You can also evolve them to develop unique traits and abilities. Our beginner-level Loddlenaut guide will help you learn more about various loddle types, cleaning methods/tools, and breeding.

Loddlenaut Guide

Explore Everything

The world of Loddlenaut is dynamic and constantly evolving. You’ll be guided through the game one location at a time. The first time you visit a new location, you must cleanse it before moving to another area, but that’s not all. Once you clean a biome, if you don’t visit it for some time, pollutants begin to accumulate in nearby plants, contaminating them once again.

As you continue exploring the regions, you’ll encounter stray polluted plants, garbage bags, crates, and other structures that you can clean up along the way. You have the option to save them for the end game or address them if you need crafting components.

Keeping the Environment Clean

You have three methods to clean the environment:

1. Bubble Gun – The bubble gun is your primary tool for removing gunk from objects. Upgrade it as soon as you can to increase your cleaning speed.

2. Purifier Bomb – This bomb can instantly clear small areas of polluted materials. They are inexpensive and require only a few materials to craft.

It’s a good idea to carry between 5 to 10 purifier bombs when entering a new region for quicker cleaning. This method is faster than using your Bubble Gun for everything.

3. Water Purifier -These are deployable devices that automatically clean plants and other nearby objects.

However, since you can only build a limited number of them, it’s best to save them for the late game. By then, you’ll better understand the most effective positions and ranges for these purifiers.

Loddle Breeding Guide

Adult loddles can lay a maximum of two eggs in their lifetime, and they will grow and evolve after you’ve provided them with sufficient food.

Loddles won’t lay eggs in your hideout. To encourage a loddle to lay eggs, you need to leave them in their natural biome. Furthermore, they will only lay eggs if the biome is at least 67% clean and there is available space in the nesting spots.

Loddles lay eggs every 25 minutes. If the required conditions aren’t met, they will wait another 25 minutes before attempting to lay eggs again.

When the nest is full, continue feeding the loddles until they reach adulthood. Then, leave them in the biome to lay more eggs.

Resource Management

Recyclers process the trash you collect from various parts of the world and provide you with resources in exchange, which can be used for crafting. However, it’s advisable not to recycle everything immediately because certain items require unprocessed trash for crafting. For example, the Purifier Bomb requires soda cans and six-pack rings.

Additionally, you don’t need to carry items with you for crafting. Once you deposit something in storage, the crafting stations can access items directly from there. Keep only essential items in your inventory or hot bar, such as deployable structures (water purifiers, recharge rings, etc.), consumables (purifier bombs, toys, etc.), and food items for feeding your loddles.

How to Pet a Loddle

To pet Loddles in Loddlenaut, first, make sure every item is unequipped from your hotbar. You don’t need to store them; just press ‘Q’ to open your inventory, then drag the items from the Hotbar into the lower inventory slots.

Petting a loddle in Loddlenaut

Once your hotbar is empty, approach a Loddle and hold down ‘E’ to reach out your hand. The Loddle will automatically come towards you, and once it’s close enough, you’ll be able to pet it.

Always Upgrade the Basic Gear First

Oxygen, boost, scanners, and blasters are essential parts of your basic gear. Upgrading them early on will enable you to explore the underwater world more efficiently. These upgrades are relatively inexpensive, but the benefits they offer are significant.

Upgrading your oxygen levels increases your tank’s capacity, allowing you to stay in the biome for extended periods. This means you can accomplish more with each visit.

Boost upgrades enhance the duration of your boost, helping you cover longer distances more quickly.

The scanner upgrade indicates the direction of trash or goop, saving you the effort of actively searching for these items.

Lastly, upgrading the blasters allows you to open tougher crates, which often contain more trash.

How to deploy Structures

To deploy structures such as Recharge Rings and Light Beacons, you must first equip them on your hotbar.
